I’m In Business!

Business Cards
I finally got my business cards! And you won’t believe what these cards are good for…

These cards lead people to my favorite webpage… Blogs From Geekdom! Of course, you obviously know about Blogs From Geekdom already… because you’re here. But now, If you find me at a Comic Con, I can give you a legit card!

Okay, so these aren’t so much business cards as tiny advertisements. But still, I like ’em! It makes me feel like maybe this thing I picked up as a hobby is a little more legit. I have actual business cards for my actual job, but these are way more fun!

As of today, I have 54 published blog entries! An additional 15 are already ready to go for the future. I do one every weekday, with a quiz on Saturdays. I usually take Sundays off as I’m super busy with church activities. However, I have decided to accept the National Blog Posting Month (NaBloPoMo) challenge and post every day throughout November! Ironically, last Sunday was my second highest view post ever!

“How did this all start?” you ask? I’m glad you brought that up! On the way home from Salt Lake City Comic Con, I was discussing the activities with my wife. Being a professional writer, she had served on several panels about authoring books. I have to admit, I was a little jelly. It looked like fun, sitting up there in front of the room, discussing things that were in common with other Comic Con visitors. I immediately started thinking, “How can I get up there?” I’m a little random, knowing a little about a lot of things and a lot about a few things. And, my wife reminded me, I don’t really have a platform. AKA: Who the heck wants to listen to me?

My wife and her friend have been blogging for teen writers for several years now and have a huge following. I probed her brain to find out more about it. After a bit of conversation, I opted to start Blogs From Geekdom. BFG is a place I can ramble on about the geekiest things around: Doctor Who, Star Wars, Disney, and everything else awesome! A place where I can share conversations with other nerds like myself!

Since I began two months ago, I’ve been slowly picking up steam. Gaining one blog follower at a time. And I’m having a great time doing it! So far, this has been a successful experiment in sticking with what I start. Not to mention creativity and writing.

If you don’t follow Blogs From Geekdom yet, I recommend you give me a try. And… leave comments! I try to always write back! We have all this nerdliness in common, let’s chat about it!

  1. Business cards! Stepping up in the world, Brad. 😉 Awesome … that reminds me I need to figure out how to add you to my blogger blog roll. *Edit: apparently you can just add the URL, that was easy, I thought it was different for wordpress blogs*
I’m “crazy jealous” of your prolific posting though! I need to kick start my blog up again since getting back from a trip, but even before then, I usually averaged about 2-3 posts a week. Ideally I’d like to build up to 4-5 a week, but I think that will only happen between cards.

    • Thanks for figuring out how to add me! 🙂 So far I’ve had no trouble thinking up new posts, for the most part. Admittedly, some are better than others! But I’ve been having fun doing it. Then I obsessively check my stats every day to see what’s working! :/

      • * will only happen between semesters. Don’t know where cards came from … =P

I know, stats are too fun to look at –I have no idea what half of google analytics means (that’s for another break to figure out) it’s something strangely satisfying to see.

        • Totes agree! It really doesn’t mean a whole lot to me. It won’t really change what I post. But it’s nice to see those high graphs!
