When searching for a location on Google Maps, it’s now possible to play Pac-Man! That’s right! As if planning that next trip didn’t take long enough, we are now provided with a delightful distraction. A yellow pie being chased through the streets of the world by Inky, Blinky, Pinky and Clyde.
Virtually any map can become a Pac-Man grid. The streets of Anytown, U.S.A. are transformed into a Pac-Man playing arena at the push of a button. A large square icon appears at the bottom left of the screen next to the Earth button. Simply click and begin collecting pellets!
Some areas (like the little town I live in) are not able to be used due to the lack of available roads. However, an “I’m feeling lucky” option appears if the area is unusable. Click it and Google will find you a playable place.
It’s unclear how long this will last. It may just be for April Fool’s Week. It may just be a subtle promotion for Pixels, the new Adam Sandler movie. Personally, I hope it sticks around!
Finally, this bit of prophecy from 1983 has become a reality!
