This is just fun!At the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland, they don’t just hold themselves to Shakespeare plays. We had the opportunity to see Guys and Dolls; what Seinfeld called a “lavish Broadway musical.” And it was so good!
From the opening song to the final curtain, this show is fun fun fun! The action is very amusing. Nathan Detroit needs a place to run his floating craps game. In order to get the money to rent a place, he makes a bet with Sky Masterson that Sky can’t win the affection of a pretty lady that runs the Salvation Army.
The songs are infectious. Chances are, you’ve heard at least one of them before. “Luck, Be a Lady Tonight,” “Sit Down, You’re Rocking the Boat,” “I Love You a Bushel and a Peck.” All are very famous songs from this play.
I had seen the 1955 movie before, but this was the first time I had seen the show. It was so well done and fun! The timing of the humor was just right. The characters were performed perfectly. I don’t know how they could have done a better job with it!
